Robin Gerson Wong started singing and dancing at the tender age of four. In her senior year of high school, she starred with fellow classmate, Tony Danza, in the musical South Pacific. She received her bachelor of fine arts in theatre and musical theatre from Boston Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Dave Conner, musical director of Sesame Street. She sang and danced on Broadway in the musical, Good News and appeared on daytime television and regional theatre. She starred in Atlantic City musical reviews Sands Hotel and Harrah’s Casino and performed on Caribbean cruise ships. Robin toured Buenos Aires, Argentina with her own musical group. In fact, she has the distinction of being the first woman to sing Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, in Argentina. (Just call her a “pre-Madonna.”) She performed as a singer throughout the New York metropolitan area and had the privilege of singing for New Jersey’s Governor and Mrs. Florio at their annual Sweetheart Ball (a fund raiser to benefit Drumthwackit, the gubernatorial residence.)
Over the years, Ms. Gerson Wong worked with Abe Burrows (director of the original Guys and Dolls), Gary Marshall (creator of Happy Days and director of Pretty Woman), Donald Sadler (Tony Award winning choreographer of No, No Nanette) and Michael Kidd (choreographer of Seven Brides For Seven Brothers.)
Robin taught theatre at Carnarsie High School in Brooklyn, New York. She was drama coach at Summit Middle School where she directed and choreographed their theatrical productions. She was a member of Actors’ Equity Association, the American Guild of Variety Artists and the American Guild of Television and Radio Artists.
Robin founded The Performing Arts Studio Theatre School nine years ago and currently runs The Performing Arts Studio Theatre Camp both located in Scotch Plains, New Jersey.
